How to make your Makeup look last longer?

Imagine you were on a trip to another country, then you decided to leave the hotel and not return before midnight. You made that decision during the afternoon and you thought of applying just a casual makeup look. The question is will your makeup last from the afternoon till midnight? Well no worries I have a solution to this problem. We all go through stages where we want our makeup to last for more than 4 hours. For some of us it is a simple matter, whereas for others it might be an impossible mission. Therefore, there are certain products that need to be applied before and after applying makeup. These are the steps to have a long lasting makeup look:-

1)   Apply a primer or moisturizer on your face before applying any makeup product. Try to use the one that suits for your skin type whether it was a dry, oily, or T-zone skin tone.

2)   Apply an eye base on top of your eyes before applying eye-shadows or eyeliners. I suggest to use Urban Decay primer potion and Sephora's eye base.

3)  Curl your lashes before applying mascara to extend your lashes and make them longer to long hours.

4)  Apply a lip moisturizer, lip balm and line your lips with lip-liner before applying any lipstick.

5)   Use a liquid blusher to obtain a long lasting blush.

6)   After applying all your makeup, use a setting makeup spray to keep the makeup last longer. Setting sprays from brands Urban Decay and Kryolan are long lasting sprays.

Most Common Makeup Errors

There are lots of people that complain about their makeup looks and makeup products as well. As a makeup artist, I asked a few of my customers what do they think about makeup and these are the common negative views I got: “Makeup makes me look scary”, “My skin looks dull every time I apply makeup on”, and “I can’t find the makeup look that suits me”

No worries ladies I know exactly what’s going on between you and makeup. Sometimes it is not your skin or face that is not adapting with makeup, it might be that you are making some mistakes regarding makeup, or it could be the makeup artist that applied makeup on your face made some mistakes. These are the common mistakes that we find in makeup:-

a)   Using low quality makeup products: sometimes you follow correct steps and choose the right mix of colours but you end up with a terrible makeup look because you are using either low quality set of brushes or cheap makeup products.

b)  Mixing wrong colours: there are times where you end up with a very bizarre look because you simply mixed colours that don’t match or that do not mix such as: blue and yellow, green and pink, purple and red! This is the most common makeup mistake ever.

c)   Applying excessive amount of makeup: for those who say that makeup makes them look scary, this is the reason. You are mixing lots of colours of eyeshadows, adding too much eyeliner, and choosing a very strong lipstick. These excessive amounts of makeup will not make you look prettier and results in scary look.

d)   Following wrong steps: sometimes people say that every time they contour their faces, they end up with a tanned face rather than a thin face, which is in other words not what they wanted to have. Well here is the reason for having tanned face, you might be applying too much bronzer, using the wrong shade of bronzer, or you might be doing it the wrong way. There are certain steps when it comes to contouring your face and if these steps were not followed correctly the results won’t be nice.

Organize Your Makeup

All makeup lovers tend to have lots of different makeup products and tools. Even if you don’t have lots of makeup products, you still have different products that needs to be distinguished and organized. In this post I’m going to show you how to organize your makeup products and tools step by step.

1^st step is to have a makeup box or a container that will store all your makeup products. Depending on the number of makeup products that you have, you can either buy two or three small makeup boxes or you can buy one big box that will store all the products.

2^nd step is to categorize your makeup products. Makeup categories could be lipsticks, eyeliners, mascaras, foundations, blushes and other different categories. This method will help you while applying makeup on yourself or on others because you will know where each product is placed and stored.

3^rd step is to make a place for new products. There are times where you will go and shop for more makeup products especially if they were on sale so you should always keep a small space for new products so that you don’t end up buying another box or container.

4^th step is to have either a mug/glass to store your makeup brushes, or you can store your brushes in a makeup box depending on how many brushes you have and on your reference.

Finally keep your makeup box locked or lock it in a safe place so that nobody steals your makeup products or mess with them.
